Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.

  • Fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease preferred.
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of Minnesota.
  • Proven experience performing corneal surgeries and managing complex corneal conditions.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (32-40 hours/week) Surgical Technologist for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Bloomington. 
 
SUMMARY 
The Surgical Technologist prepares supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Surgical Technologist will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all supplies for each surgery. These individuals also assist the Nurse Manager in the maintenance of supply inventory.  Starting pay is $35.00-38.00/hour.
 
LOCATION/SCHEDULE
This position will be based in Bloomington and is 0.8-1.0 FTE (approximately 32-40 hours/week). Hours vary between  6am-4pm, Monday – Friday. While Bloomington is designated as the home location, travel may be required to all Minnesota Eye locations: Blaine, Crosstown, Minnetonka and Woodbury.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
  • Organizes storage area for instruments and supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Labels medication on the sterile field.  Accounts for and verifies amounts, reporting totals to both the surgeon and the RN circulator.
  • Maintains knowledge of commonly used local anesthetics, antibiotics, and topical hemostats.
  • Assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.
  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
  • Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
  • Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and a minimum of one year.
  • Current BCLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a Part-Time Patient Service Representative (20 hours/week) for our Bloomington clinic. 

SUMMARY 
The Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming patients and visitors to MEC in a warm and friendly manner and helping to prepare for their visit. This includes problem resolution and assisting with paperwork including demographics, insurance information, and collecting co-payments and/or past due balances in a timely manner. Starting pay is $18.50-21.00.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE
This position is based in our Bloomington clinic but will be required to work shifts at other MEC clinics as needed. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, prompt manner as the first point of contact in the overall patient experience and assist with navigational needs and appointment scheduling.
  • Verify, obtain, enter and update patient demographics, insurance, referring physician, primary care provider, and other required fields as assigned. 
  • Assist patients with completion of pertinent forms including but not limited to medical history, patient agreement, workers compensation.
  • Collect patient payments for self-pay appointments, co-payments, outstanding balances, and fees for contact lens related items.
  • Daily cash reconciliation and posting of cash batch. 
  • Coordinate and assist patients with transportation needs.
  • Prepare patient charts in advance for both clinic and laser visits including printing fee tickets for add on appointments.
  • Prepare surgery and dry eye patient packets and laser post-op kits.
  • Distribute daily visit paperwork. 
  • Scan patient paperwork into the electronic health record.
  • Facilitate lobby safety and cleanliness as well as cleaning lanyards and badges.
  • Comply with established standards and protocols of MEC goals and objectives including compliance with HIPAA and PHI standards and protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years related customer service experience 
  • Health care experience preferred

SUMMARY
The Regional Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing AR operations across multiple locations, ensuring timely collections, accuracy in billing, and optimization of revenue cycle performance. This role partners closely with leadership, RCM departments, and technology teams to improve cash flow, leverage AI-driven tools, reduce aging, and drive operational efficiency.  Starting pay is $65,000-$75,000/year.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage AR operations across assigned regions, including collections, follow-up, and denial management
  • Monitor and analyze AR performance metrics (aging, cash collections, DSO, denial trends) and implement improvement strategies
  • Ensure timely and accurate resolution of outstanding accounts, including payer and patient balances
  • Collaborate closely with RCM departments (front-end, coding, billing, and patient access) to identify and resolve revenue cycle gaps
  • Partner with IT and vendors to implement and optimize AI and automation tools that enhance AR workflows, prioritization, and collections performance
  • Provide insights into trends impacting collections such as payer delays, denial patterns, and patient responsibility

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the AR team, including setting performance expectations, coaching staff, managing productivity, and fostering accountability and performance excellence
  • Partner with leadership to support strategic initiatives, reporting needs, and financial goals
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of revenue cycle or accounts receivable experience, preferably in healthcare
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Strong understanding of billing, collections, payer processes, and denial management
  • Experience working with multiple sites or regional operations preferred

SUMMARY

The Medical Billing (AR) Specialist at UVP plays a vital role in the revenue cycle process by ensuring accurate and timely submission of medical claims, working denials, and supporting the financial health of the organization. This individual will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure billing accuracy and compliance with payer requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and submit professional and/or institutional medical claims to payers electronically or via paper when necessary
  • Review patient accounts for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and contractual guidelines
  • Troubleshoot claim rejections, denials, or unpaid claims while working with third party payers as well as patients to resolve the billing. This includes submitting corrected claims and creating appeal letters in a timely manner
  • Analyze reimbursement audits to ensure transaction processing accuracy according to payer contracts.
  • Processing correspondence and filing in a timely manner
  • Post payments and adjustments as needed; work with payment posters when discrepancies arise
  • Collaborate with coding, front office, patients, and other departments to resolve billing issues
  • Communicate effectively with insurance payers, patients, and colleagues via phone and written correspondence
  • Provide customer service while addressing patient billing calls; resolves issues to meet patient needs or requirements in a timely and proactive manner
  • Ensure all billing activities are HIPAA-compliant and follow internal policies
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payor guidelines, coding changes, and billing regulations
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and process improvement initiatives
  • Support audits and provide documentation when requested
  • Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certification in medical billing/coding preferred
  • 2+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting (ophthalmology or specialty care experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and billing software; knowledge of systems like NextGen, Nextech, Trizetto, or similar is beneficial
  • Familiarity with payor portals, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
