The Ophthalmic Assistant generates important preliminary patient information to be used by the ophthalmologist; reviews patient status and performs a variety of medical tests while providing friendly, first-class service.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Make introductions and establish rapport with patients providing friendly, first-class customer service and patient care.
  2. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  3. Test and Record Visual Acuity for patients of all levels of acuity, including preliterate, illiterate, non-verbal, and foreign language patients.
  4. Test Visual Acuity using Pinhole Occluder, Stereoacuity, Near Point Accommodation and Convergence, Distance and Near Acuity using optotype.
  5. Perform Visual Fields testing utilizing Amsler Grid, Confrontation Visual Fields, Automated Perimetry, and Goldmann Perimetry.
  6. Measure and Assess Pupils – RAPD.
  7. Measure and Record Intraocular Pressure using hand-held tonometer, applanation tonometer, and/or non-contact tonometer.
  8. Test and Record Ocular Motility for Versions and Ductions, Functions, Anomalies, Cover Tests, Stereoacuity, and Nystagmus.Perform Automated Keratometry.
  9. Neutralize spectacles using an automated lensometer.
  10. Perform and Record glare testing (BAT), potential acuity meter (PAM), pachymetry, OCT glaucoma laser testing, Ishihara color vision testing, and tear testing – Schirmer, BUT, Rose Bengal.
  11. Perform drop therapy and educate patients on medications and post-operative instructions, per doctor’s orders.
  12. Perform corneal topography imaging and HRT/OCT scanning laser tests for glaucoma and retina.
  13. This is an in-office position, remote work is not available.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, basic ophthalmic patient care, physiological, psychological, and psychosocial factors affecting health or illness specific to patient care needs.
  • Basic knowledge of surgical procedures, pharmacology, and specific treatments for common disease entities.
  • Ability to perform basic visual field testing.
  • Ability to operate machines including computer, calculator, visual field equipment, keratometer, camera, electronic flash, macros lens, air tonometer, hand-held tonometer, lensometer, autorefractor, blood pressure cuff, a-scan unit, and video editing units. 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience as a Medical Assistant or related experience required.
  • Experience working in Ophthalmology/Optometry strongly preferred.
  • Graduate from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet all patients and guests with highest level of customer service and care and in accordance with company standards.  Anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing yourself, and ensuring that the patient understands tests, procedures, and the process during the exam.

SUMMARY 

Pre-Operative Surgical Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating with patients and the Ambulatory Surgery Center to ensure all pre-operative labs, medical clearances, and pre-operative instructions for patients are provided in advance of the surgery date. You will be responsible for completing all pre-operative calls using specific physician guidelines, along with completing all clinical and surgical disability correspondence for patients



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the team in reviewing patient record prior to surgery to ensure all pre-operative medical clearance is obtained, including labs, history and physical, etc.
  • Answers and originates a large number of patient calls to answer questions about their surgical procedure, payments due, and provide detailed pre-operative instructions.
  • Answer patient questions and provide assistance in completing all disability paperwork.
  • Utilize our medical office software to schedule new and follow-up appointments for our patients as needed.
  • Update necessary records, including patient demographics and insurance coverage if needed.
  • Experience understanding patient out-of-pocket fees, eligibility, and authorizations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient records.
  • Verify, update and enter insurance information into the electronic practice management system (EPM) including policy information, benefit coverage, and referrals, as needed.
  • Identify any potential comanage accounts and effectively communicate this information to patients and medical offices.
  • Other co-management duties as assigned.
  • Provide timely responses to voicemail and email inquiries.
  • Provide feedback to scheduling staff or appropriate business office staff of necessary waivers or special instructions that may be needed.

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for patient check-in, patient check-out, as well as treating all patients in a professional and courteous manner. Review patient chart to verify necessary information and obtain appropriate signatures. Enter new patient information or update existing patient information into computer. Welcome all patients when they enter the office.
 
Essential Responsibilities
  •  Responsible for patient check-in, greeting every patient in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Mark arrival time of patients in office and make sure patients have been checked in and roomed.
  • Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures obtained.
  • Verify and scan patient’s current insurance card.
  • Verify address, e-mail and phone number.
  • Communicate with patients if there will be a delay. Offer to reschedule if patient unable to stay.
  • Check-out all patients.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as directed by the physician.
  • Schedule patients for transfer of care and order any required diagnostic testing.
  • Explain all fees and patient financial responsibility.
  • Secure all necessary patient signatures; obtain proper informed consent, and insurance authorization.
  • Collect fee for services and any past-due balances as required.
  •  Ensure patient satisfaction
  • Ensure that proper authorization or referral is collected for the patient.
  • Obtain authorization or referrals that have not been received by the practice.
  • Prepare charts appropriately.
  • Place telephone calls to no-show appointments and reschedule as needed.
  • Provide support on telephones.
  • Scan charts and testing into EMA in a timely manner.
  • Assist other front office personnel, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required including training new staff.
  • Maintain refreshments in lobby area.
  • Keep lobby area maintained in clean and orderly status. Remove waste when needed.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Prepare coffee for the patients in the morning, turn on TV to correct channel, keep magazines organized and neat.
  • Close lobby in the evening, removing coffee, turning off the TV, removing any erroneous trash.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a medical practice front office setting

SUMMARY
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for attending to patients in a timely and professional manner while providing a first-class customer service experience with all patients.  The Ophthalmic Technician performs measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet all patients and guests with highest level of customer service and care and in accordance with company standards.  Anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing yourself, and ensuring that the patient understands tests, procedures, and the process during the exam. 
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline.
  • Assist with patient pre- and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures.  Obtain consents when needed.
  • Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Instrument sterilization as needed.
  • Participate in trainings and meet requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Ensure opening and closing of special testing rooms. Maintain stocking of exam lanes and maintain order in work areas.
  • Ensure company COVID-19 protocols are followed.
  • This position is in-office and remote is not available.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology terms, conditions and clinical flow preferred.
  • Professional verbal communication skills, demonstrating ability to educate patients in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to clearly document activities in Electronical Medical Records system preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to move between and progress tasks forward.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Typing, Computer and Data entry
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum one year of experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry setting.

SUMMARY 

The Ophthalmic Scribe assists the doctors with documentation of the patient exam into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR). The Scribe will also assist with facilitation of surgery and procedure scheduling and scheduling of return appointments as directed by the provider. Partners with other clinic staff to facilitate efficient clinic flow and ensure quality patient care.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet all patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing yourself, and ensuring that the patient understands what will happen during the exam.
  • Document patient exam in EHR, scribing all elements of the patient exam including procedure orders, e-prescribing medications and scheduling the return to clinic. Ensure all entries are accurate by the team.
  • Respond to internal communications in a timely manner.
  • Perform the following as needed: Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline.
  • Calibrate diagnostic equipment and perform instrument sterilization as needed.
  • Provide patient and family counseling/education as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
  • Assist in triage.
  • Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed.
  • Review all chart notes and correspondence daily to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure chart documentation meets ICD-10 requirements.  Work with doctors to sign and close encounters and transmit ERx.
  • Obtain patient signature on consent documents for in lane and surgical procedures.
  • Set up exam rooms per provider preference, keep exam rooms stocked and clean between patients; cleaned at end of each workday; assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
  • Partner with providers to prepare culture documents, ensure proper storage of specimens, contact lab for pickup and ensure specimen is in the lockbox for pick up.
  • Attend trainings and stay current on requirements for HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Ensure opening and closing of special testing rooms.  Maintain stocking of exam lane and maintain order in working areas.
  • Schedule return appointments as ordered by the provider, including referrals to outside providers.
  • Travel between clinics as scheduled.
  • Ensure company COVID protocols are followed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Typing and computer knowledge required
  • Previous experience with EHR systems required and ophthalmology experience highly preferred
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, Ophthalmology preferred
  • Ability to perform ophthalmic tests and calibrate equipment per manufacturer guidelines

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • ·High schedule diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office, ophthalmic experience preferred.

  • Medical Scribe Certification and Aptitude Test (MSCAT) preferred.

SUMMARY
The main duties of this position are to maintain an adequate level of anesthesia supplies/equipment in the operative region, to make deliveries to the Hospital when needed, stock supplies, assist nursing personnel with patient positioning, prepping and lifting. Functions as member of turnover team, assists OR Staff & Physicians as needed.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promotes the mission, vision and values of the company.
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons instrument/tray needs prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the OR Manager in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
Education and/or Experience
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program and/or a minimum of one-year experience as a Surgical Technician. Ophthalmology experience strongly preferred.
 
License/Registration/Certification 
Current BCLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment. Surgical Technician certification is strongly preferred.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
