SUMMARY
The Information Technology (IT) Director is responsible for leading and managing the IT function across the designated region for all aspects of IT services. Oversight includes planning for IT services necessary to support organization priorities and goals, implementation of new capabilities, project and IT department leadership, support of current operations, and IT system performance and services to meet the operational and team member needs.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uses knowledge of systems analysis, workflow planning, clinical and business requirements, and translates them into functional specifications and delivery of IT services. IT service functions include telephones, network, server, workstation, wireless, other related infrastructure services and PM/EMR performance.
  • Manages an IT helpdesk and Helpdesk Software system. Acts as escalation point for the IT team and leverages external resources as needed.
  • Manages all software applications, including reporting functions.
  • Manages system integration and data sharing across systems.
  • Leads and develops teamwork across the organization for the design, build, implementation, and support of the electronic medical record and practice management systems.
  • Leads complex implementation projects across multiple departments and multiple locations.
  • Communicates effectively with team and with all levels of team members across the organization; anticipates their needs when possible.
  • Communicates effectively with end users that is timely, provides clarity, and with the ability to translate technical terminology for non-technical audiences.
  • Prepares team members to adopt new workflows and tools and uses change management leadership skills in the execution.
  • Manages operations and contingency planning for IT.
  • Uses evaluation and quality measures to monitor service effectiveness as well as the application of Healthcare IT best practices.
  • Manages service agreements and contracted service providers; communicates effectively with service partners to maintain productive working relationships. 
  • Applies current and evolving IT security standards, applicable privacy laws, HIPAA, and Meaningful Use standards.
  • Works closely with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure performance and workflow are maintained.
  • Fully develops and manages the regional budget with the SVP, IT.
  • Creates a high-performance IT team, including direction and support for IT team and direct reports. Identifies performance issues and seeks resolution.
  • Manages key projects for the SVP, IT and represents IT for CGB meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position will manage a team that could include Help Desk, Clinical System Analysts, and System Engineers.
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • 5-10 years related experience and/or training required with 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Patient care/clinic operations and electronic medical records systems experience a must.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify value and benefits of technology.
  • Openness to coaching and ability to learn quickly.
  • Knowledge of and experience with IT security standards, applicable privacy laws, HIPAA, and Meaningful Use standards.

  • Technical Skills Required:
    • Background in implementation and support of networks and equipment.

    • Experience in environment with EMR and Practice Management systems.

SUMMARY

With accuracy and attention to detail, the primary focus of the Clinical Assistant/Physician Practice Coordinator (PPC) is to manage and be accountable for the assigned Doctor of Ophthalmology’s (MD) practice ensuring successful clinic and surgery days all the while meeting established metrics. The PPC will assist with facilitation of surgeries, procedures and scheduling of return appointments and complete documentation of the patient exam into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR) as directed by the provider.  Additionally, the PPC will delegate work to Patient Coordinator (PC) supporting MD accordingly and partners with management to facilitate efficient clinic flow and ensure quality patient care.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage assigned MD’s clinic/laser/surgical schedules to ensure proper flow of appointments and procedures. Monitor encounter volumes, access, and schedule density to ensure providers are on target for budget. Point of contact to manage visitor requests for providers, including necessary correspondence.
  • Document patient exam in EHR, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications and scheduling return to clinic appointment(s). Ensure that coding is complete and charges are captured at the end of the visit.
  • Review all chart notes and correspondence daily for accuracy and completeness. Ensure chart documentation meets ICD-10 requirements and referring providers receive proper correspondence and follow up. Ensure all notes are signed by provider within acceptable timeframe.
  • Execute special documentation, letters, and other requests with the transcription service.
  • Schedule clinic appointments and surgery, including overbooks and other complex scheduling needs, and/or enter recalls in Electronic Practice Management (EPM) as ordered by the MD, including referrals to outside providers.
  • Manage schedule requests for urgent appointments and external provider requests.
  • Ensure there is a resolution of all patient issues and tasks, making sure to specifically resolve complex issues, and delegate others to PC. Respond to patient inquiries and document concerns in feedback system. Ensure all patient issues are addressed within one business day.
  • Counsel/educate patient and family as needed, including the creation of medication grids. 
  • Run EHR reports at end of clinic and ensure completion of patient documents including but not limited to FMLA, DMV, and disability.
  • Complete lens calculations and order implants and/or other items required for surgery, such as medications (compounded or otherwise) and unique surgical supplies and confirm tissue orders.
  • Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed. 
  • Obtain patient signature on consent documents for in lane procedures. Administer medication during visit and assist in minor clinic procedures.
  • Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
  • Set up exam rooms and treatment rooms for procedures per MD preference. Ensure exam rooms are continuously stocked with appropriate supplies, cleaned between patients and again at the end of each work day, as well as to assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
  • Partner with MD to prepare culture documents, ensure proper storage of specimens, contact lab for pickup, and ensure specimen is in the lockbox for pick up.
  • Facilitate new programs, such as procedures, new technology, and drugs, as necessary.
  • Manage vendor relationships for those MDs with such arrangements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Ophthalmic Technician III is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with the Ophthalmologists but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set.



Location/Schedule:

This position will work Monday-Friday, between 7:30am-5:00pm. May require an occasional 1/2 day on Saturday (1-2 times per year). The home base of this position is the Minnetonka clinic, but may be scheduled to work shifts at the other MEC locations as needed (Bloomington, Woodbury and Blaine). 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Welcome all patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform ophthalmologic tests including applanation tonometry, pachymetry, photography, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, specular microscopy, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline as determined by the clinic manager.
  • Assist with patient pre- and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures including, but not limited to, corneal crosslinking and dry eye treatments.
  • Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Instrument sterilization as needed.  
  • Participate in trainings and meet requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Provide insertion and removal training for routine and complex contact lens patients.
  • Ensure opening and closing of special testing rooms. Maintain stocking of exam lanes and maintain order in work areas.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and maintains current knowledge of instruments, sterile technique, set up, clean up, patient counseling, and compliance with Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure Control Procedures.
  • Assist with refractive laser procedures including operation of VISX and IntraLase lasers. Maintain current knowledge of instruments, sterile technique, set up, clean up, and patient counseling.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus one-year certificate from college or technical school.
  • 3+ years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Technician 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EHR system and ability to use it efficiently preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Open exam rooms at the beginning of the shift, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic and extensive information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), keratometry (manual and automated) visual fields, tonometry, A-scan, B-scan, fundus photography, perform refractive surgery workup’s, assist with basic and complex clinical procedures
  • Acquaint all patients with the office procedures to which they will be exposed. Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Assist with ongoing education and mentoring of staff
  • Stock all necessary supplies; clean all equipment and close down exam rooms at the end of the day

  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.

  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.

  • Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
  • Organizes storage area for instruments and supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Labels medication on the sterile field.  Accounts for and verifies amounts, reporting totals to both the surgeon and the RN circulator.
  • Maintains knowledge of commonly used local anesthetics, antibiotics, and topical hemostats.
  • Assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.
  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
  • Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
  • Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.
  • Other duties as assigned.  
QUALIFICATIONS
  • LPN or RN, experience preferred
  • Open and willing to try new workflows and ideas.
  • Ability to remain calm at all times and escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EHR system and ability to use it efficiently.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
 
Location/Schedule Details:
This position will be based in Minnetonka and is 0.8-1.0 FTE (approximately 32-40 hours/week). Hours vary between  6am-4pm, Monday – Friday. While Minnetonka is designated as the home location, travel may be required to all Minnesota Eye locations: Blaine, Bloomington, and Woodbury.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (32-40 hours/week) Scrub Nurse for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Woodbury. 
 
SUMMARY 
The Scrub Nurse prepares supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Scrub Nurse will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all supplies for each surgery. These individuals also assist the Nurse Manager in the maintenance of supply inventory. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
