MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Physician Practice Coordinator for our Blaine clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate assigned MD’s clinic and laser schedule to ensure proper patient flow.
- Greet patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing self, and ensuring that the patient understands what will happen during the exam.
- Document patient exam in electronic medical record, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications, and scheduling return to clinic appointment(s). Complete coding as directed by MD and ensure charges are captured at the end of every visit.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of daily created clinic chart notes.
- Execute special documentation, letters, and other requests with the transcription service.
- Coordinate and schedule clinic appointments, including urgents, overbooks , referrals to outside providers, and in-clinic procedures.
- Complete all patient issues and tasks and work in partnership with Scribe when necessary. Respond to patient inquiries and document concerns in feedback system. Ensure all patient issues are addressed within one business day.
- Counsel/educate patient and family as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
- Run end of clinic daily reports and ensure completion of patient documents including but not limited to FMLA, DMV, and disability.
- Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed.
- Assist in minor clinic procedures, including but not limited to obtaining patient signature on consent documents and administering medications.
- Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
- Set up exam rooms and treatment rooms for procedures per MD preference. Ensure exam rooms are continuously stocked with appropriate supplies, cleaned between patients and again at the end of each work day, as well as to assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
- Prepare culture documents and ensure proper storage of specimens, when necessary.
- Participate in the onboarding and training of new Team Members, especially those who are assigned to work with the same MD.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
- Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
- Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.

SUMMARY
Provides professional, high quality, safe and efficient peri-operative nursing care to patients. Roles include circulating, scrubbing, preoperative and postoperative areas as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluation of self-practice in context with professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice.
- Obtains patients’ medical history and performs physical assessment for assigned patients.
- Presents the historical and physical data to the physician to aid in determining the diagnostic and therapeutic measures necessary to correct the patient’s problem.
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or practice policy including patient and family instruction; explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.
- Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient; administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques; prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies for surgery.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions and notifies Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents; takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient; responds to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol.
- Participates in training of personnel.
Pre-Operative duties:
- Responsible for preparing the patient for the anticipated surgical procedure, including obtaining an informed consent, completing a pre-operative patient assessment and performing any procedure or administering medications required to prepare the patient for surgery
- Communicates with the circulating nurse, the recovery room nurse, the anesthesia care provider and the surgeon to coordinate a safe and comfortable surgical experience. She/He participates in patient education, makes nursing diagnoses and plans nursing care
Post-Operative duties:
- Responsible for patient assessment and maintaining the patients safety in recovering from anesthetic and surgical medications
- Responsible for ensuring that the patient understands their post-operative care requirements
- Collaborates with other peri-operative nursing staff, anesthesia care providers and the surgeon
- Assesses patient outcomes

- Assesses patient condition before, during and after the procedure to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Responsible for maintaining sterile technique in the operating room to ensure patient safety

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Completion of accredited Registered Nursing Program from college or technical school. Two years RN experience in a hospital and/or surgery center setting. One year pre-operative and post-operative experience highly preferred.
- A current and up to date MN Registered Nurse (RN) License is required
- A current and up to date BLS certification is required
- ACLS is required within 6 months of hire
