MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Technician I for our Minnetonka clinic. 



Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with Doctors of Optometry but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set.  Starting pay is $20.00-23.00/hour.
 
Location/Schedule

This position will work Monday-Friday, between 7:30am-5:00pm. May require an occasional 1/2 day on Saturday (1-2 times per year). The home base of this position is the Minnetonka clinic, but may be scheduled to work shifts at the other MEC locations as needed (Blaine, Bloomington and Woodbury).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Welcome and acknowledge all patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, tonometry, assisting with office procedures
  • Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit
  • Open and close exam rooms, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor; stock all necessary supplies
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience within an eye clinic or Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant or LPN experience
  • Optometry or Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required

SUMMARY
Performs various business office functions including but not limited to actively working Accounts Receivables, processing of insurance claims, electronic billing, posting of payments, timely account follow-up, collecting patient balances and setting up payment plans, answering patient questions on the phone along with end of day and month end balancing in accordance with business office policies and procedures to strengthen our Revenue Cycle.  Starting pay is $20.00-24.00/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of the A/R process and works aging reports according to supervisor direction.
  • Process and submit pending insurance claims in accordance with billing guidelines and department procedures including follow up.
  • Troubleshoot claims and work with third party payers as well as patients to resolve the billing. This includes submitting corrected claims and creating appeal letters.
  • Posting of remittances from third party payers along with patient payments.
  • Collections of patient balances in accordance with collection procedures.
  • Analyze reimbursement audits to ensure transaction processing accuracy.
  • Provide customer service while addressing patient billing calls; resolves issues to meet patient needs or requirements in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Ensure daily balancing of posted charges and transactions.
  • Ability to navigate through and understand the Electronic Practice Management and Electronic Health Records (NextGen).
  • Processing of correspondence and filing in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular team meetings; provide positive feedback and suggestions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree (AA) from two-year college or technical school preferred; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years’ experience in Medical and Insurance Billing, including knowledge of health insurance plan benefits and medical policies, ICD-10 and CPT codes.

Position Summary:

The Scribe assists the Doctors of Ophthalmology and/or Optometry with documentation of the patient exam into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR). The Scribe will also assist with facilitation of surgery and procedure scheduling and scheduling of return appointments as directed by the provider. Partners with other clinic staff to facilitate efficient clinic flow and ensure quality patient care.  Starting pay is $18.50-21.00/hour.
 
Location and Schedule:
This position is based at our Blaine clinic but will be required to travel with the Physician and Physician Practice Coordinator to other MEC clinics as needed based on the Physician’s schedule. This position works Monday-Friday with hours varying between 6:30am – 5:00pm.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document patient exam in EHR, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications and scheduling the return to clinic.
  • Provide patient and family counseling/education as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
  • Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed.
  • Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
  • Review all chart notes and correspondence daily to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure chart documentation meets ICD-10 requirements.
  • Obtain patient signature on consent documents for in lane procedures.
  • Set up exam rooms per provider preference, keep exam rooms stocked and clean between patients; cleaned at end of each work day; assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
  • Run EHR reports at end of clinic to ensure completion of patient documents.
  • Partner with providers to prepare culture documents, ensure proper storage of specimens, contact lab for pickup and ensure specimen is in the lockbox for pick up.
  • Attend trainings and stay current on requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Schedule return appointments and/or enter recalls in Electronic Practice Management (EPM) as ordered by the provider, including referrals to outside providers
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Education and/or experience required: 
  • High schedule diploma or equivalent.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Great experience for future medical students
  • Keyboarding and computer knowledge.
  • Previous experience with EHR systems and ophthalmology/optometry experience preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a medical office or equivalent education preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

SUMMARY 
The Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming patients and visitors to MEC in a warm and friendly manner and helping to prepare for their visit. This includes problem resolution and assisting with paperwork including demographics, insurance information, and collecting co-payments and/or past due balances in a timely manner. Starting pay is $18.50-21.00.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE
This position is based in our Bloomington clinic but will be required to work shifts at other MEC clinics as needed. This position will work an 8 hour shift Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:30am – 5pm and every other Saturday morning from 7:30am-1:30pm (would then get a day off during the week).  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, prompt manner as the first point of contact in the overall patient experience and assist with navigational needs and appointment scheduling.
  • Verify, obtain, enter and update patient demographics, insurance, referring physician, primary care provider, and other required fields as assigned. 
  • Assist patients with completion of pertinent forms including but not limited to medical history, patient agreement, workers compensation.
  • Collect patient payments for self-pay appointments, co-payments, outstanding balances, and fees for contact lens related items.
  • Daily cash reconciliation and posting of cash batch. 
  • Coordinate and assist patients with transportation needs.
  • Prepare patient charts in advance for both clinic and laser visits including printing fee tickets for add on appointments.
  • Prepare surgery and dry eye patient packets and laser post-op kits.
  • Distribute daily visit paperwork. 
  • Scan patient paperwork into the electronic health record.
  • Facilitate lobby safety and cleanliness as well as cleaning lanyards and badges.
  • Comply with established standards and protocols of MEC goals and objectives including compliance with HIPAA and PHI standards and protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years related customer service experience

Qualifications:

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (32-40 hours/week) Surgical Technologist for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Minnetonka. 
 
SUMMARY 
The Surgical Technologist prepares supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Surgical Technologist will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all supplies for each surgery. These individuals also assist the Nurse Manager in the maintenance of supply inventory.  Starting pay is $35.00-38.00/hour.
 
LOCATION/SCHEDULE
This position will be based in Minnetonka and is 0.8-1.0 FTE (approximately 32-40 hours/week). Hours vary between  6am-4pm, Monday – Friday. While Minnetonka is designated as the home location, travel may be required to all Minnesota Eye locations: Blaine, Bloomington, and Woodbury.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
  • Organizes storage area for instruments and supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Labels medication on the sterile field.  Accounts for and verifies amounts, reporting totals to both the surgeon and the RN circulator.
  • Maintains knowledge of commonly used local anesthetics, antibiotics, and topical hemostats.
  • Assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.
  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
  • Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
  • Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and a minimum of one year.
  • Current BCLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.

SUMMARY
The Regional Revenue Cycle Director provides leadership and is responsible for the claim life cycle including, coding, charge entry, payment posting, patient financial services, prior authorizations, and AR analysis across the Midwest region. You will manage the team responsible for all aspects of revenue cycle. Starting pay is $110-130K/year.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the rev cycle teams to accomplish all work efficiently and accurately
  • Perform as a practice expert of the department on all issues relating to billing and intake processes
  • Supervise the billing/intake department operations;  oversee charge entry, payment posting, reimbursement management, referral intake and insurance verification, claim submissions, and accounts receivable follow-up
  • Carry out audits of current procedures and processes, discover billing/intake operations areas to improve on and effect the necessary actions
  • Train, allocate work, and resolve problems among billing office personnel
  • Carry out performance evaluation of personnel and recommend necessary actions
  • Provide motivation to employees to achieve their best performance and high degree of productivity
  • Ensure quality and appropriate trainings are provided to newly hired and existing billing/intake staff through effect supervision and coordination of the training process, and by adhering to established company operating policies, procedures and systems, protocols, techniques, and standards

  • Oversee prior authorization and ensure smooth and timely processing

  • Give report of all concerns and issues at the department to the Chief Revenue Cycle Officer for prompt necessary action

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time Surgery Scheduler within our Patient Access department. 
 
Summary:

The Surgery Scheduler is part of our scheduling call center and takes inbound calls from patients and customers. This position is responsible for the scheduling and registration of all clinic and surgery appointments, providing a positive impression of Minnesota Eye Consultants (MEC) and being knowledgeable in complex scheduling scenarios and insurance plans. This includes answering calls quickly, entering demographic information, scheduling appointments, and providing appointment instructions to patients.  Starting pay is $20-24/hour.
 
Location/Schedule Details: This position is based at our Bloomington clinic. Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Schedule surgical patients as assigned by management in a clinic setting.
  • Monitor voicemails closely to ensure patient’s phone calls are answered in a timely manner.
  • Obtain accurate patient demographics, including insurance information.
  • Complete patient registration via phone at the time of scheduling.
  • Coordinate referrals for surgery by obtaining approval from providers and scheduling surgery and all post-operative appointments.
  • Maintain patient portal questions regarding scheduling and registration and contact patients back to schedule their requested appointments.
  • Receive and complete all tasks sent through the Electronic Health Records.
  • Monitor Vital Interactions reminder calls and coordinate recalls.
  • Complete RDR forms.
  • Arrange co-surgeries and complex surgeries and procedures with external medical facilities.
  • Maintain surgery cancellation list.
  • Schedule interpreter services for clinic and surgery patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years customer service experience, preferably within a call center environment
  • Healthcare experience preferred 
  • Ophthalmology experience and/or surgery scheduling experience is a plus

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (32-40 hours/week) Surgical Technologist for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Woodbury. 
 
SUMMARY 
The Surgical Technologist prepares supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Surgical Technologist will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all supplies for each surgery. These individuals also assist the Nurse Manager in the maintenance of supply inventory.  Starting pay is $35.00-38.00/hour.
 
LOCATION/SCHEDULE
This position will be based in Woodbury and is 0.8-1.0 FTE (approximately 32-40 hours/week). Hours vary between  6am-4pm, Monday – Friday. While Woodbury is designated as the home location, travel may be required to all Minnesota Eye locations: Blaine, Bloomington, and Minnetonka.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
  • Organizes storage area for instruments and supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Labels medication on the sterile field.  Accounts for and verifies amounts, reporting totals to both the surgeon and the RN circulator.
  • Maintains knowledge of commonly used local anesthetics, antibiotics, and topical hemostats.
  • Assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.
  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
  • Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
  • Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and a minimum of one year.
  • Current BCLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.

SUMMARY
Provides professional, high quality, safe and efficient peri-operative nursing care to patients. Roles include circulating, scrubbing, preoperative and postoperative areas as assigned.  Starting pay is $38.00-42.00/hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluation of self-practice in context with professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice.
  • Obtains patients’ medical history and performs physical assessment for assigned patients.
  • Presents the historical and physical data to the physician to aid in determining the diagnostic and therapeutic measures necessary to correct the patient’s problem.
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or practice policy including patient and family instruction; explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.
  • Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient; administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques; prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies for surgery.
  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions and notifies Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents; takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient; responds to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol.
  • Participates in training of personnel.
Pre-Operative duties: 
  • Responsible for preparing the patient for the anticipated surgical procedure, including obtaining an informed consent, completing a pre-operative patient assessment and performing any procedure or administering medications required to prepare the patient for surgery.
  • Communicates with the circulating nurse, the recovery room nurse, the anesthesia care provider and the surgeon to coordinate a safe and comfortable surgical experience. 
  • She/He participates in patient education, makes nursing diagnoses and plans nursing care.
Post-Operative duties:
  • Responsible for patient assessment and maintaining the patients safety in recovering from anesthetic and surgical medications
  • Responsible for ensuring that the patient understands their post-operative care requirements
  • Collaborates with other peri-operative nursing staff, anesthesia care providers and the surgeon
  • Assesses patient outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned.
Circulating Nurse duties (if applicable): 
  • Assesses patient condition before, during and after the procedure to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Responsible for maintaining sterile technique in the operating room to ensure patient safety
  • Supervises any unlicensed assertive personnel in the operating room.
  • Responsible for ensuring that postoperative physician orders are communicated to the recovery room nursing staff for implementation.
  • Develops a plan of care and evaluates patient outcomes.
  • Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Completion of accredited Registered Nursing Program from college or technical school. Two years RN experience in a hospital and/or surgery center setting. One year pre-operative and post-operative experience highly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A current and up to date MN Registered Nurse (RN) License is required
  • A current and up to date BLS certification is required
  • ACLS is required within 6 months of hire
