  • Participate in staff meetings and in-services.
Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical experience as a medical or nursing assistant or related field required
  • Sterile processing experience highly preferred

  • Responsive to internal and external customer needs 
Location/Schedule Details:
This position is full-time and will be based at our Minnetonka ASC but may be required to work shifts at any of our other surgery centers in Blaine, Bloomington or Woodbury as needed.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Medical Scribe in our Woodbury clinic. 
 
Position Summary:

The Scribe assists the Doctors of Ophthalmology and/or Optometry with documentation of the patient exam into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR). The Scribe will also assist with facilitation of surgery and procedure scheduling and scheduling of return appointments as directed by the provider. Partners with other clinic staff to facilitate efficient clinic flow and ensure quality patient care.
 
Location and Schedule:
This position is based in our Woodbury clinic but will be required to travel with the Physician and Physician Practice Coordinator to other MEC clinics as needed based on the Physician’s schedule. This position works Monday-Friday with hours varying between 6:30am – 5:00pm.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document patient exam in EHR, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications and scheduling the return to clinic.
  • Provide patient and family counseling/education as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
  • Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed.
  • Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
  • Review all chart notes and correspondence daily to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure chart documentation meets ICD-10 requirements.
  • Obtain patient signature on consent documents for in lane procedures.
  • Set up exam rooms per provider preference, keep exam rooms stocked and clean between patients; cleaned at end of each work day; assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
  • Run EHR reports at end of clinic to ensure completion of patient documents.
  • Partner with providers to prepare culture documents, ensure proper storage of specimens, contact lab for pickup and ensure specimen is in the lockbox for pick up.
  • Attend trainings and stay current on requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Schedule return appointments and/or enter recalls in Electronic Practice Management (EPM) as ordered by the provider, including referrals to outside providers
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Education and/or experience required: 
  • High schedule diploma or equivalent.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Keyboarding and computer knowledge.
  • Previous experience with EHR systems and ophthalmology/optometry experience preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a medical office or equivalent education preferred.

SUMMARY

The Nurse Liaison ensures that surgical patients are medically optimized for their surgical procedures. This includes providing support to the providers by answering surgical patient calls, e-prescribing medications, triaging patient concerns, answering general patient phone calls and other medical administrative responsibilities such as patient paperwork to ensure superior patient care.



RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complete all preoperative surgical calls (Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)). 
  • Ensure surgical chart is complete (H&P, blood work, EKG, IOL pick, surgery order).
  • Triage patient calls regarding ocular concerns. Determines clinic visit necessity.
  • Document all calls using the Patient Communication log in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Review all pathology reports; contacts patients and/or provider with results as directed and records communication in EHR.
  • Complete medication refill requests obtained via fax, phone call or patient portal.
  • Answer patient calls and/or portal requests to provide education, answer questions, etc. to ensure superior patient care.
  • Send tasks via EHR when necessary to enlist the assistance of other team members.
  • Complete same day post-operative surgical calls.
  • Participate in trainings and meets requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Perform all patient related duties as assigned to ensure quality patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
  • LPN or RN, experience preferred
  • Open and willing to try new workflows and ideas.
  • Ability to remain calm at all times and escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.

SUMMARY 
The Surgical Technologist prepares supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Surgical Technologist will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all supplies for each surgery. These individuals also assist the Nurse Manager in the maintenance of supply inventory. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
  • Organizes storage area for instruments and supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Labels medication on the sterile field.  Accounts for and verifies amounts, reporting totals to both the surgeon and the RN circulator.
  • Maintains knowledge of commonly used local anesthetics, antibiotics, and topical hemostats.
  • Assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.
  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
  • Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
  • Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and a minimum of one year.
  • Current BCLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.
 
Location/Schedule Details:
This position will be based in Woodbury and is 0.8-1.0 FTE (approximately 32-40 hours/week). Hours vary between 6am-4pm, Monday – Friday. While Woodbury is designated as the home location, travel may be required to all Minnesota Eye locations: Blaine, Bloomington, and Minnetonka.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with Doctors of Optometry but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree (AA) from two-year college or technical school preferred; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years’ experience in Medical and Insurance Billing, including knowledge of health insurance plan benefits and medical policies, ICD-10 and CPT codes.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a Health Information Specialist position. 

Summary

Responsible for prepping and scanning paper charts into electronic system, uploading faxes, communicating with patients and outside clinics, processing medical record requests, and a variety of front office duties. 

Location/Schedule Details:
This position is based in our Bloomington clinic. Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:15am-4:45pm.
 
Responsibilities

  • Run schedule reports, prep and scan paper charts for upcoming appointments.
  • Scan daily visit paperwork into EHR.
  • Process requests for medical records, as well as legal requests.
  • Upload patient records and visit summaries to patient portal.
  • Create and update electronic charts for new patients.
  • Upload faxes to patient charts, and send to the doctor’s queue if needed.
  • Fulfill email and task requests in a timely manner.
  • Help team meet meaningful use standards.
  • Request information from outside clinics.
  • Answer telephone, and assist patients or outside clinics with their requests.
  • Organize and distribute all company mail. Work with courier service, on a weekly schedule to distribute mail to all locations securely. 
  • Other duties as assigned
