MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (32-40 hours/week) Surgical Technologist for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Minnetonka. 
 
SUMMARY 
The Surgical Technologist prepares supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Surgical Technologist will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all supplies for each surgery. These individuals also assist the Nurse Manager in the maintenance of supply inventory. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.
  • Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.
  • Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.
  • Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment and instruments to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Operates equipment required to perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.
  • Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy and utilizes PPE.
  • Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.
  • Organizes storage area for instruments and supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Labels medication on the sterile field.  Accounts for and verifies amounts, reporting totals to both the surgeon and the RN circulator.
  • Maintains knowledge of commonly used local anesthetics, antibiotics, and topical hemostats.
  • Assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.
  • Assists in initial Operating Room (OR) set up, including wet mopping floor and wiping down all flat surfaces and assists in initial decontamination room set up.
  • Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.
  • Assists in end of day clean up procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-services, accurately maintaining education file.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and a minimum of one year.
  • Current BCLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.
 
Location/Schedule Details:
This position will be based in Minnetonka and is 0.8-1.0 FTE (approximately 32-40 hours/week). Hours vary between 6am-4pm, Monday – Friday. While Minnetonka is designated as the home location, travel may be required to all Minnesota Eye locations: Blaine, Bloomington, and Woodbury.

Position Summary:

The Scribe assists the Doctors of Ophthalmology and/or Optometry with documentation of the patient exam into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR). The Scribe will also assist with facilitation of surgery and procedure scheduling and scheduling of return appointments as directed by the provider. Partners with other clinic staff to facilitate efficient clinic flow and ensure quality patient care.
 
Location and Schedule:
This position is based in our Woodbury clinic but will be required to travel with the Physician and Physician Practice Coordinator to other MEC clinics as needed based on the Physician’s schedule. This position works Monday-Friday with hours varying between 6:30am – 5:00pm.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document patient exam in EHR, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications and scheduling the return to clinic.
  • Provide patient and family counseling/education as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
  • Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed.
  • Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
  • Review all chart notes and correspondence daily to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure chart documentation meets ICD-10 requirements.
  • Obtain patient signature on consent documents for in lane procedures.
  • Set up exam rooms per provider preference, keep exam rooms stocked and clean between patients; cleaned at end of each work day; assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
  • Run EHR reports at end of clinic to ensure completion of patient documents.
  • Partner with providers to prepare culture documents, ensure proper storage of specimens, contact lab for pickup and ensure specimen is in the lockbox for pick up.
  • Attend trainings and stay current on requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Schedule return appointments and/or enter recalls in Electronic Practice Management (EPM) as ordered by the provider, including referrals to outside providers
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Education and/or experience required: 
  • High schedule diploma or equivalent.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Keyboarding and computer knowledge.
  • Previous experience with EHR systems and ophthalmology/optometry experience preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • 1-2 years related experience in a medical office or equivalent education preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Location/Schedule:
This position will work Monday-Friday, between 7:30am-5:00pm. May require an occasional 1/2 day on Saturday (1-2 times per year). Position Summary:  
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with the Ophthalmologists but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Open exam rooms at the beginning of the shift, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic and extensive information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), keratometry (manual and automated) visual fields, tonometry, A-scan, B-scan, fundus photography, perform refractive surgery workup’s, assist with basic and complex clinical procedures
  • Acquaint all patients with the office procedures to which they will be exposed. Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Assist with ongoing education and mentoring of staff
  • Stock all necessary supplies; clean all equipment and close down exam rooms at the end of the day
  • Regularly communicate and interact with Clinic Manager, MD’s, OD’s, and other members of the clinical team
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician
 
Certificates, Licensees and/or Registrations Required:
  • Basic Life Support within six months of employment
  • COA, COT or COMT preferred but not required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate assigned MD’s clinic and laser schedule to ensure proper patient flow.
  • Greet patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.  Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing self, and ensuring that the patient understands what will happen during the exam.
  • Document patient exam in electronic medical record, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications, and scheduling return to clinic appointment(s). Complete coding as directed by MD and ensure charges are captured at the end of every visit.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of daily created clinic chart notes.
  • Execute special documentation, letters, and other requests with the transcription service.
  • Coordinate and schedule clinic appointments, including urgents, overbooks , referrals to outside providers, and in-clinic procedures.
  • Complete all patient issues and tasks and work in partnership with Scribe when necessary. Respond to patient inquiries and document concerns in feedback system. Ensure all patient issues are addressed within one business day.
  • Counsel/educate patient and family as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
  • Run end of clinic daily reports and ensure completion of patient documents including but not limited to FMLA, DMV, and disability.
  • Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed. 
  • Assist in minor clinic procedures, including but not limited to obtaining patient signature on consent documents and administering medications.
  • Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
  • Set up exam rooms and treatment rooms for procedures per MD preference. Ensure exam rooms are continuously stocked with appropriate supplies, cleaned between patients and again at the end of each work day, as well as to assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
  • Prepare culture documents and ensure proper storage of specimens, when necessary.
  • Participate in the onboarding and training of new Team Members, especially those who are assigned to work with the same MD.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
At least three years related experience in a medical office or equivalent education required. Previous experience with electronic medical record systems and ophthalmology/optometry experience highly preferred. Bilingual a plus.

SUMMARY
Analyzes and organizes coding operations and procedures, supervises coding team, assists with design and implementation of coding policies and procedures, and monitor/assess coding activities within the practices.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Improve functionality and efficiency of coding systems and staff, which may involve reorganization of structure and functions with regard to coding. Evaluate staffing levels, staff proficiency and job responsibilities.
  • Ensure uniformity within coding operations.
  • Maximizes coding staff productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications and systems, effective utilization of resources and delegation of duties.
  • Develop effective control and warning systems to identify coding problems early on.
  • Monitor and review coding issues and work with staff to track and minimize them.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with practice collection policies and procedures.
  • Identifies problems and takes initiative to seek appropriate and timely resolution.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of practice management system and coding regulations.
  • Perform routine audits to assess coding performance by coding staff, clinical team, and providers.
  • Develop and implement training and education programs for coding staff. Enhance training development amongst clinical team and providers.
  • Monitor monthly KPIs and other metrics in collaboration with Revenue Cycle Director
  • Perform coding tasks and work as necessary.

SUMMARY 
The Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming patients and visitors to MEC in a warm and friendly manner and helping to prepare for their visit. This includes problem resolution and assisting with paperwork including demographics, insurance information, and collecting co-payments and/or past due balances in a timely manner.

Location and Schedule:
This position is based at our Bloomington clinic but will be required to work shifts at other MEC clinics as needed (Bloomington, Minnetonka, and Woodbury). The work schedule is an 8 hour day between the hours of 6:30am-5:30pm including a Saturday rotation. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, prompt manner as the first point of contact in the overall patient experience and assist with navigational needs and appointment scheduling.
  • Verify, obtain, enter and update patient demographics, insurance, referring physician, primary care provider, and other required fields as assigned. 
  • Assist patients with completion of pertinent forms including but not limited to medical history, patient agreement, workers compensation.
  • Collect patient payments for self-pay appointments, co-payments, outstanding balances, and fees for contact lens related items.
  • Daily cash reconciliation and posting of cash batch. 
  • Coordinate and assist patients with transportation needs.
  • Prepare patient charts in advance for both clinic and laser visits including printing fee tickets for add on appointments.
  • Prepare surgery and dry eye patient packets and laser post-op kits.
  • Distribute daily visit paperwork. 
  • Scan patient paperwork into the electronic health record.
  • Facilitate lobby safety and cleanliness as well as cleaning lanyards and badges.
  • Comply with established standards and protocols of MEC goals and objectives including compliance with HIPAA and PHI standards and protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years related customer service experience

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time Revenue Cycle Assistant


SUMMARY
The Revenue Cycle Assistant is responsible for various functions within the business office. This includes
organizing and maintaining revenue cycle processes, distributing mail to team members and departments, addressing incoming patient calls, capturing and applying patient payments, scanning documents along with other items and duties within the office setting. All while displaying strong communication, customer service, and providing an exceptional patient experience that aligns with Minnesota Eye Consultants core values.
 
LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
This position is in-office based at our Bloomington corporate office. The work schedule is an 8-hour day, Monday thru Friday.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides support to Revenue Cycle Manager, Patient Financial Services Manager, and team.
  • Triage and address incoming billing calls to resolve patient inquiries.
  • Collect patient payments for pre or post services over the phone.
  • Reconcile daily transactions.
  • Organize, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Prepare and Scan documents in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and order supplies.
  • Project based tasks.
  • Participate in regular team meetings; provides positive feedback and suggestions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Two to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minnesota Eye Consultants is now hiring for a Ophthalmic Testing Assistant at our Woodbury Clinic location. The Ophthalmic Testing Assistant is responsible for supporting clinical flow by performing visual field and OCT testing.

Location/Schedule:
  • This position will work Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:00am-5:00pm.  The Home base for this position is the Minnesota Eye Consultants Woodbury clinic.
  • May be scheduled to work shifts at the other clinic locations as needed (Blaine, Bloomington, and Minnetonka). 
Compensation:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs patient workups along with preliminary and diagnostic testing including visual acuity, patient history, lensometry if needed, and visual fields in accordance with established protocols.
  • Facilitates efficient patient flow by monitoring schedules and identifies potential schedule conflicts. Notifies appropriate member of management or designee of issues for proper resolution.
  • Ensures and maintains order in assigned work areas.
  • Participates in regular team meetings and reports team progress to ensure effective team and inter-department communications.
  • Attends and participates in research project initiation meetings when requested.
  • Responsible for ongoing professional self-development training and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of six months customer service experience required.
  • Experience working in healthcare settings preferred, but not required.
