UVP has a new opening for a full-time Verification and Authorization Specialist position.  This position is hybrid.
 
SUMMARY
Obtain authorizations and referrals for patients, while verifying insurance benefits.  This may include helping patients understand their insurance policy and what it may cover, providing good faith estimates, and helping to build rapport and trust with patients.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review scheduling reports for completeness of insurance information for the necessity for referrals, pre-certifications, and prior authorizations to ensure reimbursement at the highest level possible.
  • Submitting prior authorizations following payer guidelines.
  • Verify insurance with respective insurance companies and file all necessary forms for pre-certifications, and referral requests.
  • Create and send Good Faith Estimates based on benefits verification to patients.
  • Verify, update, and enter insurance information into the electronic practice management system (EPM) including policy information, benefit coverage, and referrals.
  • Identify any potential non-coverage issues and effectively communicate this information to our patients.
  • Provide timely responses to voicemail and email inquiries to the verification team.
  • Provide feedback to scheduling staff or appropriate business office staff of necessary waivers or special instructions that may be needed.
  • Communicate with patients as needed to acquire necessary information.
  • Maintain up to date reference guides and payer requirements.
  • Participate in regular team meetings; provide positive feedback and suggestions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma/ GED. Minimum 1-3 years customer service experience in a healthcare setting. Proficient with computers and practice management applications. Ability to read and interpret documents, write correspondence, analyze, and resolve problems. Ability to maintain confidentiality of our patients, associates, and proprietary company information. Ability to work independently and in a team setting in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities and work styles.
