MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Triage Supervisor for our Bloomington clinic.
SUMMARY
The Triage Supervisor is primarily a triage role with functions split between handling patient phone calls and triaging ocular concerns to determine the urgency of clinic visits and on the rare occasion (to keep up on skills), performing measurements and tests as part of the patient work up necessary for the provider to determine a diagnosis and provide treatment. This role will also oversee and supervise the triage team. This individual will need to maintain a fast pace and function in a highly skilled, multitasking environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Triage patient phone calls, answer questions and resolve concerns as directed by the provider to achieve patient satisfaction.
- Assist triage team members questions and support as appropriate.
- Provide a higher level of accountability and quality control
- Spot check/audit phone call recordings and provide feedback/educate team members as needed
- Determine the urgency for a clinic visit, if at all, and schedule patients accordingly.
- Properly document all calls using the Patient Communication log in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Initiate tasks via EHR when necessary to enlist the assistance of other team members to resolve the patient’s request and/or concern.
- Accurately complete medication refill requests obtained via fax, phone call, and patient portal.
- Review queues and status updates
- Send communications to teams when help is needed
- Assist and coordinate Urgent appointments via Microsoft Teams (Call Center).
- Coordinate and triage ERFC’s (Via Email).
- View reports and look for improvements for efficiency
- Provide stats once a month to the clinic manager and director of clinical operations for monthly board meeting
- Set metrics and goals by monitoring Ring Central Live as well as Overall Business Analytics
- Assist with doc-to-doc communications when referring providers call in
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the triage team, including hiring, training and reviewing performance of staff. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with UVP’s policies and applicable laws. Includes, but not limited to, hiring, performance reviews, employee development, approving timecards, plans, assigns and directs work, pay recommendations, coaching, counseling, and discipline, addresses issues and concerns, facilitates conflict resolution, models UVP’s code of conduct and mission commitments always.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent plus one-year certificate from college or technical school.
- 1+ years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, preferably working in a surgical practice.
- Comprehensive knowledge and proficient use of EHR system preferred.
- Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology is preferred.
- Previous ophthalmology experience highly preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred.
