SUMMARY
The Information Technology (IT) Director is responsible for leading and managing the IT function across the designated region for all aspects of IT services. Oversight includes planning for IT services necessary to support organization priorities and goals, implementation of new capabilities, project and IT department leadership, support of current operations, and IT system performance and services to meet the operational and team member needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uses knowledge of systems analysis, workflow planning, clinical and business requirements, and translates them into functional specifications and delivery of IT services. IT service functions include telephones, network, server, workstation, wireless, other related infrastructure services and PM/EMR performance.
- Manages an IT helpdesk and Helpdesk Software system. Acts as escalation point for the IT team and leverages external resources as needed.
- Manages all software applications, including reporting functions.
- Manages system integration and data sharing across systems.
- Leads and develops teamwork across the organization for the design, build, implementation, and support of the electronic medical record and practice management systems.
- Leads complex implementation projects across multiple departments and multiple locations.
- Communicates effectively with team and with all levels of team members across the organization; anticipates their needs when possible.
- Communicates effectively with end users that is timely, provides clarity, and with the ability to translate technical terminology for non-technical audiences.
- Prepares team members to adopt new workflows and tools and uses change management leadership skills in the execution.
- Manages operations and contingency planning for IT.
- Uses evaluation and quality measures to monitor service effectiveness as well as the application of Healthcare IT best practices.
- Manages service agreements and contracted service providers; communicates effectively with service partners to maintain productive working relationships.
- Applies current and evolving IT security standards, applicable privacy laws, HIPAA, and Meaningful Use standards.
- Works closely with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure performance and workflow are maintained.
- Fully develops and manages the regional budget with the SVP, IT.
- Creates a high-performance IT team, including direction and support for IT team and direct reports. Identifies performance issues and seeks resolution.
- Manages key projects for the SVP, IT and represents IT for CGB meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position will manage a team that could include Help Desk, Clinical System Analysts, and System Engineers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
- 5-10 years related experience and/or training required with 3 years in a leadership role.
- Patient care/clinic operations and electronic medical records systems experience a must.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify value and benefits of technology.
- Openness to coaching and ability to learn quickly.
- Knowledge of and experience with IT security standards, applicable privacy laws, HIPAA, and Meaningful Use standards.
- Act in a manner of integrity which is consistent with UVP’s core values, demonstrating respect for the company and its team members, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
- Technical Skills Required:
- Background in implementation and support of networks and equipment.
- Experience in deploying Cloud systems (AWS/Azure/Google).

- Windows Server Administration.
- Microsoft SQL server support and basic administration.
- Experience in environment with EMR and Practice Management systems.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university, and five-ten years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
