Unifeye Vision Partners is currently hiring for a full-time Medical Biller. This position can be hybrid or remote.  

SUMMARY
Performs various business office functions including but not limited to actively working Accounts Receivables, processing of insurance claims, electronic billing, posting of payments, timely account follow-up, collecting patient balances and setting up payment plans, answering patient questions on the phone along with end of day and month end balancing in accordance with business office policies and procedures to strengthen our Revenue Cycle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of the A/R process and works aging reports according to supervisor direction.
  • Process and submit pending insurance claims in accordance with billing guidelines and department procedures including follow up.
  • Troubleshoot claims and work with third party payers as well as patients to resolve the billing. This includes submitting corrected claims and creating appeal letters.
  • Posting of remittances from third party payers along with patient payments.
  • Collections of patient balances in accordance with collection procedures.
  • Analyze reimbursement audits to ensure transaction processing accuracy.
  • Provide customer service while addressing patient billing calls; resolves issues to meet patient needs or requirements in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Ensure daily balancing of posted charges and transactions.
  • Ability to navigate through and understand the Electronic Practice Management and Electronic Health Records (NextGen).
  • Processing of correspondence and filing in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular team meetings; provide positive feedback and suggestions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree (AA) from two-year college or technical school preferred; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years’ experience in Medical and Insurance Billing, including knowledge of health insurance plan benefits and medical policies, ICD-10 and CPT codes.

Northwest Eye Clinic has an opening for a full-time Medical Billing Specialist in our Revenue Cycle department in Golden Valley. This position is hybrid.

KEY DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES 

  • Resolve electronic claim submission errors and rejections
  • Verify patient and insurance eligibility on payer website
  • Review and respond to patient inquires
  • Respond and resolve clinical and front office staff inquires and problems
  • Post insurance remittances by 835 electronic download or through the EFT system
  • Post insurance remittances and/or summaries by data entry
  • Post payments for medical record release
  • Balance insurance receipt batches to reflect payments, adjustments, and billing patient responsibility amounts accurately with completed reports
  • Follow up on insurance denials and rejections from remittance advice or summary
  • Knowledge of claim appeals process to file with appropriate documents and requirements to insurance payer
  • Scan batches to Laserfische (EOB’s)
  • Submission of secondary insurance claims and attachments electronically
  • Audit patient accounts and request patient or insurance refunds in a timely manner
  • Monthly follow up of insurance aging reports to meet or exceed company standards
  • Attends weekly staff meetings
  • Retrieve and follow up on overnight and daytime voicemail messages to business office
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Attends workshops, seminars, and classes to further education and stay abreast of current billing service requirements and changes
  • Participant in billing audits for compliance
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding and medical policy and changes professional billing services
  • Awareness of collection laws and regulations
  • Maintain HIPAA privacy and security regulations
  • Communicate pertinent billing and insurance payer changes and regulations to providers, clinical staff, and management by reviewing payer websites, newsletters, and alerts
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for posting insurance payments, account follow-up including aging and resolving insurance claims, auditing for maximum insurance reimbursement, credit balance refunds, and responding to patient inquires with timely resolution

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • AA or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance with healthcare emphasis preferred
  • Completion of accredited medical billing programs a plus
  • Previous healthcare experience in accounts receivables preferred
