Position Summary:
The primary focus of the Physician Practice Coordinator (PPC) is to be accountable to the assigned Physician’s (MD) clinical practice by ensuring clinic days are efficient and according to established standards and protocols while maintaining the highest regard for patient care and the overall patient experience.
Location/Schedule:
This position is based in our Blaine clinic but will be required to travel with the Physician and Scribe to other MEC clinics as needed based on the Physician’s schedule. This position works Monday-Friday with hours varying between 6:30am – 5:00pm.

- Coordinate assigned MD’s clinic and laser schedule to ensure proper patient flow.
- Greet patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation. Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing self, and ensuring that the patient understands what will happen during the exam.
- Document patient exam in electronic medical record, scribing all elements of the patient exam including contact lens template, procedure orders, e-prescribing medications, and scheduling return to clinic appointment(s). Complete coding as directed by MD and ensure charges are captured at the end of every visit.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of daily created clinic chart notes.
- Execute special documentation, letters, and other requests with the transcription service.
- Coordinate and schedule clinic appointments, including urgents, overbooks , referrals to outside providers, and in-clinic procedures.
- Complete all patient issues and tasks and work in partnership with Scribe when necessary. Respond to patient inquiries and document concerns in feedback system. Ensure all patient issues are addressed within one business day.
- Counsel/educate patient and family as needed, including the creation of medication grids.
- Run end of clinic daily reports and ensure completion of patient documents including but not limited to FMLA, DMV, and disability.
- Dispense medication and/or over the counter product samples as directed.
- Assist in minor clinic procedures, including but not limited to obtaining patient signature on consent documents and administering medications.
- Print and dispense glasses and/or contact lens prescriptions as directed.
- Set up exam rooms and treatment rooms for procedures per MD preference. Ensure exam rooms are continuously stocked with appropriate supplies, cleaned between patients and again at the end of each work day, as well as to assist in maintaining public spaces for professional appearance.
- Prepare culture documents and ensure proper storage of specimens, when necessary.
- Participate in the onboarding and training of new Team Members, especially those who are assigned to work with the same MD.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
At least three years related experience in a medical office or equivalent education required. Previous experience with electronic medical record systems and ophthalmology/optometry experience highly preferred. Bilingual a plus.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Technician II for our Blaine clinic.
Location/Schedule:
This position will work Monday-Friday, between 7:30am-5:00pm. May require an occasional 1/2 day on Saturday (1-2 times per year). The home base of this position is the Blaine clinic, but may be scheduled to work shifts at the other MEC locations as needed (Bloomington, Minnetonka, and Woodbury).
Position Summary:
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with the Ophthalmologists but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Open exam rooms at the beginning of the shift, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor
- Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
- Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic and extensive information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), keratometry (manual and automated) visual fields, tonometry, A-scan, B-scan, fundus photography, perform refractive surgery workup’s, assist with basic and complex clinical procedures
- Acquaint all patients with the office procedures to which they will be exposed. Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment
- Assist with ongoing education and mentoring of staff
- Stock all necessary supplies; clean all equipment and close down exam rooms at the end of the day
- Regularly communicate and interact with Clinic Manager, MD’s, OD’s, and other members of the clinical team
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

1-2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician
Certificates, Licensees and/or Registrations Required:
- Basic Life Support within six months of employment
- COA, COT or COMT preferred but not required
