Job Summary:  Plan, direct, and coordinate patient care activities in ambulatory surgical center to maintain standards of patient care and conditions of coverage under the Medicare Program.  Advise medical staff, department heads, and Administrator in matters related to clinic service by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees. 
Essential Skills and Abilities
Basic cardiac life support certification.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and push patients in wheelchair to vehicle.
The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of basic ophthalmic patient care and terminology;
Superior interpersonal and communication skills;

Demonstrate the ability to work with geriatric patients and patients of all ages;
Demonstrates strong technical as well as procedural skills;
Computer experience required;
Ability to evaluate situations and provide suggestions for resolution.

Creates a culture supportive of staff, which fosters individual motivation, high levels of individual and team performance, and quality of service

Responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Advise and assist management and medical staff in planning and developing administrative and operational policies and procedures, facilities use and planning, and strategic planning.
Coordinate implementation of methods and procedures to ensure achievement of objectives.
Interpret policies and objectives of service to staff and community groups.
Analyze and evaluate overall patient care program.
Confer with managers and staff concerning problems of patient care.
Evaluate the education and training needs of personnel and directs development and implementation of in-service programs through subordinate staff.
Make periodic rounds of patient care units.
Perform personnel management functions such as establishing personnel qualification requirements, drafting procedure manuals, initiating in-service programs.
Initiate studies to evaluate effectiveness of services in relation to their objectives and costs.
Prepare periodic reports concerning patient care service.
Ensure that all surgery/clinic charts and patient information is protected and there is no breach of confidentiality according to HIPPA guidelines.


Education, Training and Experience:
BS and MS degree; and/or five years or more related experience and/or training as an RN; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
